about us page

Scootermarket may be a relatively new name in Australian scootering, however our people and our products are anything but! In 2001, Scootermarket took over the retail operations of Grand Prix Scooters who had been providing spares and service to Australian Scooterists for over 5 years

The origins of the business can be traced back to 1993 when GPS founder Brenton Golding began to import spare parts for himself and other Lambretta owners starved of parts in Australia. The business grew to include servicing and about 1996 expanded to include spare parts for (and service on) Vespa scooters as well

Long time Lambretta enthusiast Tim Swane from Sydney came on board soon after this and the business continued to grow until in 1999 GPS acquired an Italjet franchise and moved into new scooters as well as vintage models

With the dawn of the year 2000 came time for a shift to bigger premises in Hoddle Street and finally the name change that more accurately reflects the mixed clientele which the business now services. At the same time Graham Hadley joined the crew, replacing Tim, and bringing to the team his many years of motorcycle and scooter workshop experience
